Q This item appeared in our January issue, but unfortunately we reproduced at far too small a size for the detail to be easily seen, hence this repetition. The above photograph from our files shows HM King George Ⅵ visiting RAF Halton in April 1939. The airframes would appear to be predominantly Hawker types, although a DH Don nose can be seen beyond the crowd - Halton received at least eight Dons for ground training purposes. The interesting aircraft, however, is at right front. It seems to have fitting points for an upper wing but the curved cockpit shape is unusual and does not appear to fit any Hawker type. Fuselage no 9, beyond the Don, might be a Fury. Any comments?
