Q In the December issue, John Parker requested details about the types of aircraft at an exhibition held post-war in a London store. A Phil Botley and Dominic O'Connor responded with information published in Flight in June 1945. Entitled 'Britain's Aircraft Exhibition', the event was staged on the bombed-out premises of the John Lewis store in Oxford Street from 21 June and was open between 10.00-20.00hrs. The following aircraft were displayed: HP Halifax, Avro Lancaster, part of a Vickers Wellington, DH Mosquito, Bristol Beaufighter, Airspeed Horsa glider, Supermarine Spitfire, Fairey Firefly, Hawker Tempest, Supermarine Walrus (in a water tank as John Parker remembered), an Auster, and the Gloster E28/39. Among a range of ancillary equipment displays was an ASR lifeboat and aircraft dinghies, armament, engines, propellers and pyrotechnics.
