As a Library Assistant whose main responsibility is e-resources, I was really looking forward to the Electronic Resources & Libraries (ER&L) Conference because of its singular focus on a topic I work with everyday. From a personal standpoint, I hoped to learn things that would help me do my job more efficiently or to reinforce work procedures already in place. ER&L annually provides a great opportunity to find out how other libraries are handling similar issues and learn about new ideas in this particular aspect of librarianship. In addition, my workplace is in the early stages of transformation. With the hiring of a new Department Head at the end of 2007, the addition of a Serials & Electronic Resources Librarian in 2008, and a new library scheduled to open in summer 2009, this is an opportune time for us to determine what organizational changes are needed to make our system run more effectively.
