Only a few years ago, the worst form of intrusion you could inflict on someone was to read their diary without their permission. Now you can hack into their genome. In a recent New Scientist, investigative journalists Peter Aldhous and Michael Reilly revealed how they did it.rnYou start by inviting someone out for a drink. At some point in the evening, you surreptitiously pocket their glass. You then send it to a DNA extraction company, of which there are dozens to be found on the internet. You might have to shop around to get one who will accept the unusual format of the sample - but a glass isn't so different from a test tube after all. In a few weeks, you will receive a vial containing a solution of your unsuspecting victim's DNA through the post.
