Most accountancy firms claim to provide a client-focused, personal service and understand the value of talented employees and partners in building the firms' brand and reputation. These firms may spend considerable time and money recruiting talented individuals but then often neglect to monitor and develop existing team members. Yet talent management is key to the success of a firm. A 2011 survey by McKinsey and executive search firm Egon Zehnder, Do you have the right leaders for your growth strategies?, revealed that leadership quality is critical to business growth, that most companies do not have enough high quality executives and that certain competencies are critically important to growth strategies.
