The first annual Employee Ownership Day was launched by the Employee Ownership Association on 4 July.On the same day, HMRC published new guidance on employee share trusts and on the tax implications of a purchase by a company of its own shares.The company law rules on ownership were changed by statutory instrument (SI 2013 No 999) from 30 April.The new company rules allow private companies to hold shares in treasury (ie, buy them in without cancelling them) and make buy-backs easier.
