IntroductionType 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) is one of the important risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Endothelial dysfunction and increased Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) result in cardiovascular complications. Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 (VCAM-1) and Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM-1) are two adhesion molecules that are markers of early atherosclerosis and play a significant role in developing atherosclerosis.
