Thromboelastography-guided transfusion in dogs with hypocoagulable disorders: a case series

BackgroundThromboelastography (TEG) is a global whole blood hemostasis assay which includes plasma as well as cellular components of hemostasis in the analysis and follows the quality and dynamics of clot development, stabilization, and lysis. In human medicine TEG is also a valuable asset in the therapeutic setting, allowing evaluation of the effect of transfusion therapy in vitro. This case series describes the use of TEG as a guiding tool for transfusion therapy in four dogs with hypocoagulable hemostatic disorders.
