浅谈《中庸》首章核心概念的英译

摘要

Zhongyong is a central document in the Confucian tradition. To explore the key terms’translation can help us truly appreciate and express the deep philosophical meaning of Zhongyong. Through a contrast analysis of the two versions of Zhongyong by James Legge and Gu Hongming, this paper explores the English translation of key terms, such as xing, dao, jiao and zhonghe. The author aims to demonstrate the importance of understanding the culture in the source text and promotes the culture exchange further between home and abroad.%《中庸》是儒家学说中一部极为重要的经典，探析其核心概念的英译有助于我们更准确地理解和表达《中庸》深邃的哲学意蕴。通过对比辜鸿铭和理雅各的《中庸》英译本，探讨首章“性”、“道”、“教”、“中和”四个核心概念的英译，试图说明在翻译典籍时充分理解源语文本文化的重要性，从而进一步促进中国的对外文化交流。
