论高校英语教育中文化教学的重要性

摘要

ABSTRACT:In higher English education in China,teachers commonly give top priority to the cultivation of the students'language ability especially on reading and writing skills for the purpose of passing CET (College English Test) 4 and 6. Although test-oriented teaching method can lend substantial support for students to gain high scores in tests,it also contributes to the phenomena that Chinese students hardly use English in circumstances other than tests. Based on expounding the relationship between the language and culture, this paper introduces the role of the English being as the the international lingua franca, analyzes the importance of intercultural language teaching in changing the dumb English teaching status in our country, and taking the TESOL major’s culture teaching mode in the University of Sydney as an example, probes into the culture teaching method in university’s English education.%在我国国内高校英语教育中，通常为了满足四、六级考试应试的目的，教师会将学生语言能力的培养放在首位，主要强调英语语言读与写的重要性。这种英语教学模式，虽然对于学生在考试中取得成绩有很大的帮助，但导致许多学生在考试之外的场合几乎不会使用英语，显现出了教学中的不足。在阐述语言与文化关系的基础上，介绍了英语语言在世界文化中通用语的功能，分析了跨文化语言教学对于改变我国高等教育哑巴英语教学现状的重要性，并以悉尼大学TESOL专业文化教学模式为例，探讨了高校英语教育中文化教学的教学方法。
