Originated from Faculty governance, Professors academic management is the main content of modern university system .This paper t races back the origin and development of professors academic management; the connotation of professors academic management is an idea and governance structure of modern university system, which Professors as a the whole body how to exert their powers of academic research,academic research, and discipline construction, and style maintenance, and academic evaluation, and academic considered and academic decision, Its essence lies in not only the establishment of checks and balances governance mechanisms of academic power and administrative power,, but also the implementation of procedure of the consultation and academic freedom in university campus.%本文通过对大学历久弥新的教授治学的历史追溯，指出教授治学的基本内涵是以教授为主体的教师共同体在学术研究、人才培养、学科建设、学风维护、学术评价、学术审议和学术决策等学术领域行使权力的大学内理念和治理结构。其本质在于建立学术权力、行政权力和政治权力分立制衡的治理机制，以实现大学校园的协商议事和学术自由。
