Objective To assess the efficacy and safety of topiramate combined with acupuncture in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia .Methods Eighty patients with trigeminal neuralgia were randomized into treatment group ( n =40 ) which were treated with topiramate acupuncture ,and control group ( n =40 ) which were treated with acupuncture .The efficacy and safety of the treatments were compared between the two groups .Results The total efficacy rate was 85.2%in the treatment group and 75.9% in the control group .The incidence rate of side-effects in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group .The differences were statistically significant ( all P<0.05 ) .Conclusion the results showed that topiramate combined with acupuncture has more satisfactory clinical efficacies and higher safety in treatment of trigeminal neuralgia .It has a high clinical value .%目的：探讨托吡酯联合针刺治疗原发性三叉神经痛的疗效及安全性。方法原发性三叉神经痛患者80例，采用随机数字表法分为对照组和试验组，对照组使用针刺治疗，试验组使用托吡酯联合针刺治疗，比较两组患者的疗效及安全性。结果对照组总有效率为75.9％，试验组总有效率（85.2％）高于对照组，且试验组患者不良反应发生率低于对照组，差异均有统计学意义（ P＜0.05）。结论托吡酯联合针刺治疗原发性三叉神经痛具有较为满意的临床疗效，治疗安全性高，具有较高的临床应用价值。
