Based on analysis of learners’needs of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and in accordance with the actual college ESP teaching, the author conducted a one-term comparative exploration on the application of formative assessment for ESP teaching. The results revealed the positive effects of formative assessment on those participants’ESP learning, which can be a favorable inspiration for the further research of ESP teaching.
