Analysis of A Speech Event in Film Pride and Prejudice using Hymes’s Concept of Ethnography of Speaking

摘要

Dell Hymes proposed seven features of discourse in his’ethnography of speaking’. The seven features are setting, purpose, key, channels, message content and message form. In this paper, the author uses these seven features to analyze a speech act.
