改革背景下学生对优秀大学英语教学的诉求

     

摘要

Adopting a qualitative research by conducting semi-structured interviews among 60 students from 15 universities in Tianjin,this study aimed to explore views of effective college English language instruction in the context of educational reform.The result of the study shows that effective college English language instruction is characterized by the following four features:in terms of instructional objectives,college EFL teachers need to enhance students'comprehensive and critical-thinking abili-ties;with regard to instructional content,teachers need to go beyond textbooks and relate their instruction to students'real life experience and current social issues; teachers should also adopt student-centered approach with much more use of discussion and interaction with students.Besides,teachers should cater for individual needs of students;and finally,teachers need to regard instructional environment as a socio-cultural setting,in which teachers and students achieve their mutual development in the pro-cess of their mutual interaction and collaborative learning.The result of the study sheds light on both foreign language instruc-tion and the professional development of college EFL teachers in the context of educational reform.%该文采用定性研究范式,对天津地区15所高校的60名学生进行了半开放式访谈,旨在探求改革背景下学生对优秀大学英语教学的诉求.学生认为,优秀大学英语教学应体现在四个方面:教学目标上,教师应注重提高学生的语言综合能力和思辨能力;教学内容应超越课本,与学生实际生活相联系;教学模式上,应采用以学生为中心的启发式、互动式教学,做到因材施教;教师应把教学环境视为师生间互动交流、互相学习、共同成长的社会文化环境.该文研究结论为改革背景下的高校外语教育和英语教师职业发展带来了诸多启示.
