On Acculturation in The Color Purple

Alice Walker is one of the most remarkable contemporary African American women writers in the literary world. Among her writings, The Color Purple is her most successful novel. The Color Purple reflects magnificent scenery of American cul-ture to the world. This thesis tries to explore the growth process of the black woman Celie from the perspective of acculturation.
