Translation of Horse Image in Shijing—From the Perspective of Conceptual Metaphor

摘要

Shijing, the first anthology of poem in ancient China, contains 305 pieces of poems which mirrors the life, tradition and beliefs of people three thousand years ago. Focusing on the most frequently used subject, the"horse"image in Shijing, this paper concluded its metaphorical meaning and analyzed the English translation by Xu Yuanchong from the perspective of concep-tual metaphor proposed by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson in the light of preserving the metaphor and culture.
