Automatic capping device is one of major equipment in the solid waste treatment system ( TES) of nuclear power plant. It is used for capping or uncapping 400L metal ic drum which is used for storing low and intermediate level radioactive solid wastes. It is a complex electromechanical equipment, and its reliability has a direct impact on the safety of loading process and smooth operation of TES. According to its function and mechanical structure, The procedure of failure mode and effects analysis ( FMEA) is used to analyze al possible failure modes and causes of the equipment and their effect on it, in order to find out the product function design defects and the weak links and put forward precaution and improvement measures in design.
