论外汉音译的发生与发展

摘要

由于可译性限度的存在，意译不可能万能，音译应运而生。中国翻译史上，外汉音译由来已久。它历经三次高潮和一次大讨论，逐渐从边缘走向主流，从遭排斥到可接受，从“不可通”到不可或缺，经历了一个发生、发展的过程。这个过程概括起来就是音译史实逐步丰富、音译用途逐步广泛、音译认识逐步提高和音译研究范围逐步扩大的过程。%Limitation of translatability makes free translation not almighty. Therefore transliteration comes into being. Transliteration enjoys in China a long history of development, which is summarized as more and more facts of transliteration, a wider use of this method, increasing improvement of the knowledge of transliteration and a wider expansion of its research area.
