英语名量词的修辞功能分析

摘要

英语名量词将其具有的名词的词汇语义传递到它所修饰的名词上,从而产生了修辞的效果,这使其语法功能类似于形容词,在修饰名词时能更生动鲜活地展现出语言使用者想描述的图画或者景象。文章从修辞学的角度分析了英语名量词,在搜集了大量实例的基础上,总结并归纳出英语名量词的隐喻、转喻、夸张、类似、通感5大修辞功能。英语名量词用浅显常见的事物对深奥生疏事物解说、帮助人深入理解,使语言更加生动形象,大大丰富了语言词汇的用法。%English measure words of noun,a special grammatical phenomenon in English language,becomes a research concern of linguists in recent years.Previous scholastic papers on English measure words of noun mainly focused on its metaphoric function,which means English measure words of noun are usually analyzed from the perspective of psycholinguistics,while this paper analyzes English measure words of noun from the perspective of rhetoric.Based on a large amount of examples,the author summarizes 5 rhetoric functions of English measure words of noun,i.e.metaphor,metonymy,hyperbole,analogy and synaesthesia.English measure words of noun greatly enrich English vocabulary with use of rhetoric making English language vivid and symbolic.
