女性和爱情是美国女作家薇拉·凯瑟中短篇小说的两大主题。其中，拓荒女性及其爱情历程向来是评论家们热议的主题。但是，在诸多以女性为主题的作品中，也不乏作者对另类女性的同情。她们用各自不同的方式实践着自己对美好生活和爱情的追求，却命运各异。选取作家的两部作品《阿佛罗狄忒来啦！》和《我的死对头》，运用叙事学理论，特别是聚焦模式理论，结合文本分析，挖掘作品中爱情主题嬗变的深层原因，进而揭示作者的创作意图，即关注“爱情、幸福”字眼下传统道德观的挣扎和理想爱情的幻灭。%Female figures and love are the two major themes of Willa Cather ’ s novelettes and short stories with the female pioneers and their love stories as the focus for critics .Meanwhile, it’s noticeable that the writ-er showed her sympathy for other kinds of women who strove for their future and love in different ways , and yet ended up with different fates .Taking Coming , Aphrodite and My Mortal Enemy as examples , the roots of the distorted love values as well as the writing purposes underlying are explored by analyzing the narrative tech -niques , especially the specific focalization mode and the discourse , and thereby attention is drawn to the hero-ines’ struggle under the influence of the traditional ethics and the disillusion of ideal love .
