美国进步主义时期的公共传播在克服社会危机、实现社会认同方面发挥了重要作用，开创了转型与危机语境下现代社会共同体建设的基本观念和路径。在进步主义运动中，美国社会通过公共讨论形成了以改革和进步为核心议程的信息共同体，进而通过对话和协商着力构建公平、互惠的利益共同体，重塑指向美好心灵、公共良知和终极追求的价值共同体。信息共同体、利益共同体和价值共同体建设对当下中国社会的发展和认同具有重要的参照意义。%This study attempts to outline the philosophy and strategy of building up a social community in the context of social transition and crises by examining the public communications and social consen- sus formation in the Progressive Era. In the Progressive Era, the public deliberation and social move- ment in the United States lead to an information community, in which dialogue and negotiation help build up a common-interest community featuring fairness and mutual benefits and a shared-value com- munity characterized by public conscientiousness and the ultimate good. The build-up of information community, common interest community and shared-value community in the United States can poten- tially serve as a reference to the social development and consensus formation in contemporary China.
