“也”和“亦”在唐五代都是比较常用的表达方式。对《近代汉语语法资料汇编》（唐五代卷）中的语料分析表明，“也”和“亦”在唐五代时期有相同的基本用法，使用基本相同的句法结构和较为相近的语体分布，但二者又表现出不同的特征和功能分布，两种用法互为补充，共同构成当时“也”、“亦”使用的整体轮廓。分析认为“也”与“亦”分布状况与的它们形成发展的历史有关，二者的分布特征预示了“也”、“亦”替换的基本路径。%The use of YE and YI for ＂too＂ or ＂also＂ in Tang and the Five Dynasties was very common. A study of the use of the two words in some of the legends and stories of the renowned monks of this time showed that they were of similar usages： they were used in similar sentence structures and distributed almost equally in both the narrative and dialogue sections. However, it was also found that the use of the two words showed different syntactical and functional tendencies, with YE being more informal and colloquial and YI more formal and syntactically complex. I argue that the dislribution of YE and Y/in literature of Tang and the Five Dynasties, the consequence of the chronicle change of each, predicts the ＂ route＂ of replacement of YI by YE in the generations to come.
