现代文明中的荒野--侯文蕙教授与环境史研究的国际化视野∗

摘要

Professor Hou Wenhui′s research on American environmental history is characteristic of her attention to wilderness. She believes that human beings should not make light of wilderness in the process of modern civili-zation and attempt to wipe out wilderness from the earth. In the course of the rapid economic evolution, people should rethink utilitarianism, which blindly pursues the pace of wealth accumulation. In addition, reflection on the relationship between human and nature is necessary. In other words, human beings should regulate their be-haviors and treat nature kindly. Overall, we should slow down the pace of social development and promote har-monious coexistence between wilderness and civilization.%对“荒野”的关注是侯文蕙教授研究美国环境史的突出特点。她认为，现代文明的发展不应忽视荒野，试图完全消灭荒野的想法是不对的。在经济高速发展的今天，我们应该反思一味追求发展速度的功利主义，重新审视人与自然相互依存的关系，在人与自然相处的过程中约束自己的行为，尊重大自然的存在与进化规律，放慢社会发展的速度，改进社会发展方式，促进荒野与文明的和谐共生。
