革命与改良之问：严复对辛亥革命的态度

On the basis of his theory of evolution, Yan Fu thought, china released his existence crisis from the west only by reformist way, which basic contents included civilization exclusion and developing MinLi MinZi MinDe. So he resolutely opposed the anti--ManZu movement proposed by revolutionaries, and he was also very against the means of violent revolution. But for the democratic republic built by revo- lutionaries, Yan Fu sometimes objects to it, and sometimes embraced it. This showed that, the relation- ships between revolution and reform were quite complicated, not a simple binary antagonistic.%通过对进化论的独特理解，严复提出了文明排外和发展民力民智民德的社会改良之路来解除中国的生存危机，因而他坚决反对辛亥革命所提出的暴力排满的主张，也很反对暴力革命的手段，但他对辛亥革命所提出的建立民主共和国的主张既有反对的一面。又有可以接受的一面。由此可见，革命和改良的关系是相当复杂的，而不是简单的二元对立关系。
