一方面彰显了作家对和谐伦理关系的倡导,批判了以自我为中心的霸权逻辑;另一方面也暗示了在后现代主义社会中一切都是永久的悬置,实现了反讽作为后现代主义创作的一种基本叙事辞格对小说文本表层意义的超越.%In the novel The Brooklyn Follies, American contemporary writer Paul Auster has narrated a life story of the ordinary people in Brooklyn, New York. The text is ironic in terms of the novel's title while the reality is ironic in terms of the text. The purpose of this"double irony"is to reflect upon the reasons for the September 11th terrorist incident and American social problems. On one hand, this discloses the author's advocation of harmonious ethical relationship and criticizes self-centered hegemonic logic; on the other hand, it implies that everything is a perpetual suspension in the postmodern society. The employment of irony, a narrative figure of postmodern literary creation, has realized transcendence over the superficial meaning of the text.
