1、瑶族为滇越边境地区的土著民族之一，在漫长的历史发展进程中，不仅创造了自己的语言，而且借用汉字翻译成瑶语记载了本民族的优秀传统文化，曾撰写了本民族文献古籍。其内容涉及瑶族社会历史、语言文字、生产生活、哲学宗教、神话传说、民间故事、情歌盘歌、医药卫生、天文历法、科学技术、风俗习惯以及信歌、契约、账簿及占卦、历算等各个领域。2、滇越瑶族文献古籍及其“道公”祭司文化是一份活态的民族文化遗产，具有多方面深远的历史意义和重要的现实意义及研究价值。3、滇越瑶族文献古籍及其“道公”祭司文化毕竟是历史的产物，菁抚杂阵，良莠并存，但瑶族文献古籍及其“道公”祭司文化的保护与传承、开发与利用在滇越瑶族地区的共同发展建设、民族文化产业的快速发展、构建和谐文化、文化资源共享等中有举足轻重的意义。%The Yao people, one of the indigenous ethnic groups along the Yunnan-Vietnamese borders, have createdtheir spoken language during a long history, and as well have put down their history and fine culture in Chinese characters. These ancient documents fall into many parts of Yao people＇s life including their social history, language and writing, economic life, philosophy, religion, legends, folk stories, love songs, medicine and health, astronomy and calendar, science and technology, conventions, contracts, accounts, divination, mathematics, etc. As a living ethnic cultural legacy, the Yao people＇s ancient documents and its ＂Daogong ＂ priest culture are of significance and value, but as they were created during the long history, there must be some essence and dross left. Anyway, it is quiet significant to protect and develop the ancient documents and the ＂Daogong＂ priest culture. It will promote the development of the Yao people＇s ethnic cultural industry, help to construct the harmonious culture and to realize the cultural resource sharing along the Yunnan- Vietnamese borders.
