They are at the bottom of academic world , enduring rejection and margin position . Part‐time teachers , as exiles in the academic world , face the following survival dilemmas :employment status of second‐class citizens , severely underestimated professional value , exclusion from the circle of governance . The exiles identity will not only weaken the professional ability of part‐time teachers , making it impossible to provide high quality of teaching , but also damage the tradition of academic community , affecting the sustainable development of higher education .
