Carved out of the rising imperialist discourse in the turn of the 20th Century America, Jack London applies the discourse to the writing of his travelogue ＂ The Cruise of the Snark＂. In it, he offers an orientalist representation of the exoticism on South Pacific Islands. In addition he illustrates the imperialist tough guy image by setting himself as a model. The travelogue, therefore, helps the dissemination of the imperialist discourse.
