Basing on a field investigation, the author reveals Bai Women’s traditional outlook on childbearingand education and their changes in these two respects. The change in the childbearing concept, apart fromthe government’s family planning policy, has been caused by women’s increasing participation in community life and enhanced subject consciousness resulting from the participation. This change has been coupledby a change in women’s outlook on education, giving women more opportunities to receive education.
