The significance of Painology in the English name of Chinese Journal of Painology

摘要

Chinese Journal of Painology is the English name of this Journal to publish from the first issue of 2020.This will begin the new era of this journal,in which the new word of Painology is the first created English professional term in China,corresponding to Chinese meaning of"Painology".There is no proper professional term for"pain as a disceipline"in the existing English vocabulary.Algology and Dolorology used to be the word to describe the pain,since these two words are uncommon and often muddled in meanings,so cannot be understood popularly.China is the earliest country to establish independent pain discipline in the world.It is necessary to have a special term for the burgeoning discipline.Therefore we decided to create a new English professional term"Painoldgy"for this new discipline and this jourmal.
