"Gou Ji" (遘祭) often appears in the inscriptions on bronze wares of the Shang Dynasty; in the central part of "Gou Ji" sacrificial activity, a character played the ancestor who would receive the sacrifice. It was then a significant event to communicate with the ancestors. However, there has been no enough concern and reasonable explanation on those inscriptions in the academic circle. This paper explores this subject and puts forward a new explanation.%商代铜器铭文中经常出现所谓的“遘祭”,而“遘祭”活动的主要内容就是一定要使受祭者出现。
