中美大学地质学入门课程教学过程对比

         

摘要

Focusing on the comparison of the teaching procedure, the author studied two introductory geology courses, Physical Geology in the China University of Geosciences Wuhan (CUG in short) and Earth Systems in the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA in short), respectively. The author found some problems in the teaching procedure of Physical Geology of CUG, including poor quality of teaching media, lack of ways to help students' knowledge consolidation, and monotonous evaluating methods, which results in less studying time and quick forgetting and eventually poor education quality. Better text books, reform in teaching methods and teaching evaluation would be a possible solution to improve education quality of China universities.%以中国地质大学(武汉)的“普通地质学”和美国University of TexasatArlington的“Earth Systems”这两门地质学的入门课程为研究对象,从提供知识、强化知识、固化知识和考察知识等教学过程的4个方面对中美大学地质学基础课的教学过程进行了对比。相比之下,“普通地质学”课程存在教学媒体质量欠佳、缺少知识巩固的途径、考查方式单一的问题,这导致了学生投入学习时间偏少,掌握知识不牢固,考试后很快遗忘,最终教学质量不高等问题。教材编写的改革、教学方法和考察方式的改善是提高教学质量的一个可行途径。
