Production scheduling in a lean remanufacturing environment.

摘要

An important element of production planning is the creation of the production task schedule. This schedule details the start and stop times of each task and allocates resources accordingly. This is often difficult due to the long nature of manufacturing schedules and can be time consuming for those involved in this process. This research develops a Visual Basic scheduling tool that will aid in the creation of repetitive job schedules in Microsoft Project for a lean manufacturing environment. The motivation for this work comes from the remanufacturing processes at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Crane, Indiana. The tool that was created significantly reduces the time required to create a schedule over the manual process from approximately 5 hours to 5 minutes. Additionally, a generic test project suggested the scheduling tool could be applied to other scheduling problems outside NSWC.
