为中国英语辩护:对一种彰显中国民族身份和全球公民的英语新变体的研究

摘要

随着全球化的日益推进，跨文化交流变得更加频繁和广泛，这就需要一种能在全球范围内交流的语言。由于历史和文化的原因，英语已成为了公认的全球通用语。但是英语并不是一成不变的，在其传播过程中经历了不同程度的“本土化”，出现了不同的英语变体，特别是当今世界，在全球化的影响下，对英语变体的研究更为关注。
　　 在中国文化环境的影响下出现了两种英语形式，中国英语和中国式英语。虽然只有一字之差，但是它们所表达的含义是完全不同的。中国英语最早是由葛传椝提出的，指代那些能表达中国独特文化内涵的，符合英语语法习惯的语言，而中国式英语则是中国英语学习者所犯的语言错误。本文主要为中国英语的存在辩护，因为中国英语不但彰显了民族身份，同时也能保证中国人民能积极参与到全球化交流中。中国英语是民族身份和全球公民的折中点。
　　 本文主要研究以下四个问题:1.英语母语者对中国英语的了解有多少？2.在多大程度上他们能接受中国英语?3.他们对中国英语成为一种新英语变体的看法如何？4.中国英语能彰显中国民族身份和全球公民意识吗？为了回答这四个研究问题，本文作者编制了一份问卷调查，并邀请30位以英语为母语的外教或留学生参加该项调查。此外，还邀请了其中的5位进行“半结构化”访谈，旨在更深入了解中国英语的现状，英语母语者对其的接受程度和看法以及中国英语在当代全球化背景下的作用。
　　 通过分析数据，作者得到了以下结论:1.英语母语者更熟悉中国式英语，而对中国英语这一术语不够熟悉。很多人将两者等同。而对于一些已经收入到在线字典的中国英语表达方式，也有很多人认为是中国式英语。2.对于问卷调查中给出的中国英语表达方式，大部分都能够被英语母语者所接受，尽管接受程度不同。3.人部分的英语母语者都认为中国英语能成为一种新的英语变体，他们对中困英语的出现都持欢迎态度。但是如果中国英语要被完全接受认可，则还需要很长时间。4.中国英语既能彰显中国民族身份，也能体现全球公民意识，是彰显两种身份的折中产物。
