摘要

情态动词CAN在英语语言学文章中频繁出现。关联理论侧重于研究认知与交流。本文旨在从关联理论角度研究英语语言学文章中的情态动词CAN，尝试从认知语用方面解释CAN的产出过程和理解过程，并检验关联理论的可靠性。 第一章是对整篇文章的介绍，包括研究目的、意义和文章的结构。第二章是对情态动词相关研究的总体回顾，简述了从不同角度对情态动词的研究，以及对不同语域中情态动词的研究。第三章解释了关联理论的相关概念和原则，包括认知语境与互明、明示推理交际、关联原则和最佳关联，这一章为整个研究提供了理论框架。第四章论述了英语语言学文章的特点、情态动词的总体语言学特征，以及CAN的个别语言学特征，并初步指出在英语语言学文章中情态动词CAN可以理解为可能、能力和合理性三种含义。第五章的研究来源于四类语言学期刊的六十二篇文章中CAN的使用情况。第六章讨论了英语语言学文章中CAN的三个主要语用功能。第七章是整个研究的总结，希望本文能为研究语言学文章中情态动词CAN的认知语用特征提供一些帮助。
