高低水平译者英译汉转换层次差异性实证研究

摘要

英汉两种语言在结构和表达上存在很大的差异，在翻译的过程中，势必会造成这样或那样的转换。本文借用语言学的两个术语—表层结构和深层结构，运用英汉对比的相关知识，以卡特福德的翻译转换理论为基础，并提出自己的转换类别，试图从实证研究的角度来客观地观察和描述高低水平译者间在转换层次上是否存在差异;如果有，具体会表现在哪些方面。
　　 从英文名著《简·爱》中选取15个具有代表性的句子，通过实验的方式，让低水平译者对这些句子进行翻译，高水平译者的译文则选自已经出版的译本，这些译文就是研究的语料。通过对比分析高低水平译者译文中的转换情况,借用软件来分析所得的数据，发现这两类译者确实存在转换层次的差异，这与预先所设想的是一致的。实证研究结果表明，高水平译者多从句子的深层结构进行翻译，即先将原文的表层结构转换为深层结构，继而才进行翻译;低水平译者由于缺少经验和英汉对比知识，多从句子的表层结构进行翻译，即按照原文的结构进行翻译，从而带有很浓的翻译腔，使译文不那么地道。另外，就转换类别而言，高低水平译者的转换都会涉及。即便如此，高水平译者的转换次数还是远远多于低水平译者的转换次数。
