主流意识形态对文学翻译选材的操控研究——五四时期和文革时期的对比分析

摘要

五四时期和文革时期的文学翻译在各个方面都迥然相异，然而在一点上有相似之处，即在外国文学翻译选材方面都极大地受到了主流意识形态的影响。本文主要通过对比这两个时期的外国文学翻译选材特点来分析这两个时期选择翻译的外国文学作品来源国、数量、作家以及文本主题的变化，并以此来考察在特定的社会—文化语境中，主流意识形态是如何影响这两个时期的外国文学作品翻译选材的。
　　本文的理论支撑是文化学派代表人物勒弗维尔的改写理论。在勒弗维尔看来，译入语文化的意识形态、诗学、赞助人是操纵文学翻译的三种基本力量，其中意识形态对翻译文学的制约和影响尤为显著。以此为理论基础，并基于所搜集和整理的大量语料，本文就主流意识形态对这两个时期我国的外国文学作品翻译选材影响进行了全面的考察和分析。研究结果表明:(1)五四时期和文革时期的外国文学作品翻译选材都极大地受到了意识形态的影响。但是由于这两个时期受不同的权利话语的制约，因而意识形态不同。正因为如此，这两个时期的外国文学作品的翻译选材呈现出不同的特点:1）从数量上看，五四时期远远多于文革时期;2）从来源国看，五四时期欧美国家的作品得到了大量译介，并且英国占总数的最多，俄国文学其次，在五四中后期，被译介的俄国文学作品总数上超过英国。整体上来说，在这一时期，除了印度、日本、南非外，被译介的文学作品基本上是来自西方欧美国家。而文革时期公开出版发行较多的是苏联文学与少数“友好”和社会主义国家的作品，欧美文学则被排斥和拒绝。少数欧美国家的作品也是以“内部发行”的方式流通;3）从源语作家看，五四时期被译介的欧美作家大都是浪漫主义作家，俄国作家则是现实主义作家居多。文革时期选择译介的作家多是无产阶级革命作家4）从作品主题看，五四时期被译介的作品多是关于个性解放与思想革命的;文革时期则更多是关于阶级斗争，反映资产阶级问题矛盾和社会问题的。(2)改写理论这种描述性研究方法有一定的可行性和适用性，对于这两个时期的外国文学翻译研究具有一定的解释力和借鉴性。
