摘要

The McNeil-Glover site (1Mo46) is an archaeologically-significant locus of rural domestic/agricultural occupation in the Flatwoods district of Alabama dating to the nineteenth century. Documentary research revealed that the occupants of the McNeil-Glover site were upper-class entrepreneurs, rather than middle-class yeoman farmers as originally posited. Archaeological analyses focused on socioeconomic distinctions utilizing a comparative framework. The McNeil-Glover artifacts were compared to those of the Gaineswood Plantation (1Mo56), a prosperous antebellum plantation home located in the Black Belt district of northern Marengo County.
