摘要

作为维系原文作者和译文读者沟通的纽带,译者是贯穿翻译过程的重要角色。以往,翻译研究衡量翻译效果的标准大多侧重于对原文的忠实。译者的主观能动性及其对译本的影响处于被低估甚至是忽视的境地。上世纪七十年代早期源自于西方的“文化转向”使翻译界开始关注译者的文化身份及其主体性。英国著名翻译学者乔治·斯坦纳提出一种描述文学翻译过程的模式—阐释运作。该理论打破了传统翻译观对于译者主观能动性的抑制,肯定了译者主体性在翻译全程中的能动作用。
  本文选取《生死疲劳》的英译本作为研究素材,以阐释运作为理论依据,分析葛浩文在该译本翻译过程中体现的译者主体性。全文共分为五章。第一章简述研究意义与背景、研究方法等;第二章介绍该小说作为研究素材的典型性、莫言作品的葛氏英译本的相关研究情况,并重点梳理国内外在不同阶段对译者主体性的研究成果,进一步确定研究的切入点;第三章是理论框架,明确译者的主体地位及其主体性特点、陈述阐释运作的缘起和核心概念,并探讨其适用于文学翻译的可行性;第四章,佐以例证,详细阐述阐释运作在翻译实践过程中如何进行调试与扩展,将“信任”、“侵入”、“吸纳”、“补偿”与不同翻译环节紧密结合,以期体现译者主体性在选择文本、理解原文、确定翻译策略与方法以形成译本、达到译语文化和原语文化传播双赢的翻译效果等方面所起的作用。第五章结论,除总结前文研究所得外,亦谈及译者主体性的彰显应兼顾阐释运作理论的局限性,以避免误读的风险。本文期望为推进中国优秀文学的翻译与传播提供参考。
