EMBEDDING INTEGRATED PLANNING INTO ARCHITECTURAL EDUCATION VIA COMPUTER ASSISTED LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS

This paper presents the development of an interactive e-learning tool that is adressing energy andenvironmental questions in the field of architectural design. To reach this goal, newer results fromlearning research are revisited to see how people learn effectively and gain specific competence. In asecond step a specific relationship between learning theory insights and the specific design process isdefined. A third step is the development of criteria for the e-learing tool. The final step is the developmentof the precise tool that is presented as a consecutive sequence of design stages that allows evaluation ofalternatives and optimisation via loops. The tool is being developed interdisciplinary between Universityof Dortmund, University of Wuppertal and University of Applied Sciences Gelsenkirchen. Thedevelopment is financed to a great extent by the state government of Nordrhein-Westfalen as part of aresearch program launched by the UVM (Universit?tsVerbund Multimedia).
