Plasma technology revolutionizes wire cleaning and annealing

This paper discusses the application of plasma technology to treat wire in-line with downstream equipment for drawing, shaving, enameling, and plating at speeds higher than conventional furnaces. Within its application range, it offers benefits over conventional methods such as simultaneous annealing and surface cleaning/deoxidation, surface quality and homogenous mechanical properties, and high processing speeds. Applications include high-speed annealing of ferrous and nonferrous strand, wire, rod, and strip.
