Abstract: We have developed a computationally rapid method of target motion detection using the spatio-temporal constraint equation. This method requires significantly fewer computations than standard methods based on the same equation, and appears to work well even under poor image conditions, such as low contrast, small object size, camera jitter, poor focus, and minimal in-plane motion. This paper describes both the standard method and our more rapid approach, and discusses enhancements added to mitigate the effects of registration error and camera jitter. Results, indicating object motion in infrared video images, are presented. !1
