Constitutive equations for stainless steels: experimental tests and new proposal

During last decades some material models to reproduce the stainless steel behaviour have beenrndeveloped. Recent studies have demonstrated that some current formulations to model stress-strain curves forrnstainless steel, such as the formulation presented in EN 1993-1-4, do not provide good estimations for ferriticrnalloys so new stress-strain relationships are required. A total of 14 tensile coupon tests on ferritic (1.4016), 14rnon austenitic (1.4301) and 14 on duplex (1.4462) stainless steels have been conducted in order to obtain suitablernparameters for different stainless steel grades. All coupons have come from the same steel producer and willrnhave been tested in the same machine, in order to reduce the scattering of the experimental results (Young’srnmodulus, 0.2% proof stress, 1.0% proof stress, ultimate stress and nonlinear parameters n and m). Therefore,rnnewanalytical expressions to determine these parameters are proposed for austenitic, ferritic and duplex stainlessrnsteels.
