With human capital now recognized as making an important contribution and competitive advantage forrntoday's organizations, the time has come to refine and extend into social capital and the newly proposedrnpositive psychological capital. Based on positive psychology and positive organizational behaviorrn(POB) the contributions that confidence, hope, optimism, and resiliency can make to positivernpsychological capital are identified. We propose that through development programs these four (andrnothers for the future) dimensions of positive psychological capital can impact desired organizationalrnoutcomes such as productivity, customer service, profit and retention and help meet the tremendousrnchallenges faced now and in the future.
