This paper compares the predictions of some of the well known life calculation methods: Smith-Watson-Topper (SWT), Fatemi-Socie, Socie, Wang-Brown and Morel with many fatigue test data on smooth specimens made of the spheroidal graphite cast iron FGS800-2. Five different types of variable amplitude stress controlled tests under bending, torsion, proportional and non-proportional bending with torsion in the range of middle cycle fatigue were carried out. Best predictions are those of the SWT and the Morel methods.
