An orange-emitting SnO_2:Eu~(3+) phosphor was prepared by combustion method and conventional solid-state reaction, respectively. Both particle size and morphology of the resultant powders showed the very different characteristics from each other. The cathodoluminescence (CL) intensity of the SnO_2:Eu~(3+) phosphor synthesized by the combustion reaction strongly depended on the amount of citric acid. When as-pyrolysized SnO_2:Eu powder with the combustion reaction was fired in oxidizing atmosphere, CL intensity was improved up to about 35%.
