The accuracy equations for single-axis flexure hinge are presented in this article. A new concept named flexibility accuracy ratio is proposed for the purpose of comparing the performance of various types of flexure hinges quantitatively. A group of elliptical flexure hinges with different minor axes lengths (including right circular hinge) are calculated using the equations, and their flexibility accuracy ratios are achieved. The results show that the performance of right circular flexure hinge is the best. This paper provides valuable reference for optimization design of flexure hinges in engineering applications.
