Information Sharing, Connected Learning, and a Professional Wrestling Fan Community

Research on information sharing practices of online fanrncommunities is nascent. This paper seeks to describerninformation sharing in a professional wrestling fanrncommunity, focusing on the practice of youth. It also seeksrnto explore how information sharing effects this connectedrnlearning environment. This study finds that informationrnsharing practices are tied to the social nature of therncommunity fostering social ties. They also function as arnmeans for people to stay current on new information, andrnhelp members of the community develop a more nuancedrnexpertise in their interest.
