Self-regulation in Web-based English Learning: The Case of Hujiang English

摘要

Drawing on Actor-network theory, this paper revolves around online English learning communities illustrated as Hujiang English to discuss how learners' self-regulatory performance correlated with the design and operation of online learning community networks. Self-regulation is investigated in terms of inner factors which are stimulated by interaction through learning tools as well as external factors which help learners to be persistent and proactive in English language learning. The paper then concludes that task-orientated and interactive communities can significantly improve the acquisition of knowledge and self-regulation skill of online learners.
